Take Five

Hop over to All Thumbs for a discussion on how your supermarket treats you. Is your grocery store in the hall of fame, like mine, or the hall of lame?

Joanna tagged me to reveal these things to you.

1. Five things I was doing 10 years ago:

  • Saying goodbye to my students in Syria
  • Traveling through Egypt and Israel
  • Studying Spanish in Granada, Spain
  • Buying and furnishing a home in Denver
  • Returning to the job I’d left before we moved to the Middle East

2. Five things on my to do list for today:

  • Come up with a post (check!)
  • Catch up on Google Reader
  • Attend Vacation Bi.ble School show my kids are in
  • Finish the book that was due back at the library yesterday
  • Clean up from a play date

3. Five snacks I enjoy:

  • Chocolate chip cookies (homemade only)
  • Archer Farms cheese straws (from Target)
  • Cappuccino Chip ice cream
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Guacamole

4. Five things I would do if I were a billionaire:

  • Travel the world with my extended family and nannies
  • Address education issues locally
  • Do some service learning with our family in Cambodia
  • Donate to a few non-profits I support
  • Go back to school…PhD in something at the Naropa Institute

5. Five places I have lived

  • Utah
  • New Jersey
  • Kansas
  • Japan
  • Syria
  • Spain

Yeah, that’s six, but it felt wrong to leave one out.

I’m not tagging anyone (except Steph, but that’s really just to be mean), but if you are looking for a topic and haven’t already done this, knock yourself out.

  2. How wonderful that you have lived in Syria!! I am so jealous! And you traveled in Egypt. I would love to go to the Middle East. I remember you leaving me a comment and saying that you were interested in the middle east too, but I never realized you lived there. My great grandparents came over from Lebenon and Syria and the older I get the more I am into my heritage. Thanks for doing the meme.

  5. You left two places out on your list of places that you have lived! Maryland (but you were so sick there it is probably best forgotten) and Colorado where you have lived since 4th grade….with a few years out occasionally to travel to travel the world.

  6. I should not at all be surprised that your 10 year ago list is so cool. Glad I could make your day – you make mine a lot more than I probably make yours. :)

  10. I particularly liked your comment under “billionaire” about traveling the world with extended family AND nannies. I am making my itinerary now (as a member of the family and NOT as the nanny).

  11. Mrs Spock — so cool! I’d like to know more.Niobe — New England have any good guac?Everyone — I forgot to add that we also did IVF that year. Each month brought something big. It’s been much calmer since then.Mom — right on all counts.

  15. You know? I mean, really. Freaking memes.…and hey! We have something in common. I’ve been trying to talk my husband into doing one of those volunteer “working” vacations where we work in Cambodia for a few weeks.
