Perfect Moment Monday: The Girls

Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than about creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

We gather here once a week to engage in mindfulness about something that is right with our world. Everyone is welcome to join. Details on how to participate are at the bottom of this post, complete with bloggy bling.

Please visit the links of the participants at the bottom.

Here’s a perfect moment from my week. I hope you’ll share yours, too.

Last week I went to this place…

…with these girls…

…to see/hear these girls.

(Shhhhhh. I have a secret crush on Amy Ray. Don’t tell anyone.)

I love both songs on this clip. I’ve already perfect momented Perfect World (imagine that). And a passage from Closer to Fine has resonated for me in so many different situations over the last 20 years:

It’s only life after all.
.

Darkness has a hunger that’s insatiable

And lightness has a call that’s hard to hear

I wrap my fear around me like a blanket

I sailed my ship of safety til I sank it.

Love that. LOVE that.

The picnic/concert was put together by Mary Beth Graff, a long-time friend and amazing portrait artist.

  1. As I tweeted (ha. that terminology still makes me laugh) Sunday night, “As I look around the dinner table tonight, I realize that we are all happy, healthy and here. I want to hold on to this moment forever.”

  2. Often when I need a lift or need to change the direction of my mood or just need to remember that things will get better, I think of the Indigo Girls’

    Closer to Fine

“There’s more than one answer to these questions
Pointing me in a crooked line
The less I seek my source for some definitive
(the less I seek my source)
The closer I am to fine”

  3. i am so lucky to have you as a friend. you are a treasure.

let’s do your family portraits soon ok? i promise–no cactus prickels this time! i have new secret spots!

if i had actually blogged in the past month i’d link up and post too. the concert was the highlight of my summer! can’t wait for brandi!

  4. I felt the tension in my shoulders drain a bit just looking at that second picture. Time out with girl friends is a wonderful thing.

  5. I am incapable of turning on the girls without singing out louder than they are, therefore never actually hearing them sing!

    What a perfect moment indeed!!

  6. Oooh, perfect indeed! I LOVE the Indigo Girls. [Every five years or so I look back on my life, and I have a good laugh.]

  7. Sounds like a great time! I saw they were in town. I was a big fan of theirs 20 years ago! It’s a great location for a concert!
