Bloggers often ask themselves and each other, “Why blog?”
After all, it’s a time suck, there is little financial incentive (for most of us), and writing about life sometimes gets in the way of actually LIVING life.
Perhaps like you, I do it for the connections, for the people I meet along the way.
I’ve written before about my Fairy Blogmother, Melissa, a/k/a Lollipop Goldstein, a/k/a The Town Crier. This was a headline in yesterday’s Denver Post.
Please join me (and others) in sending Melissa loving thoughts as she endures some difficulty at this time.
I love when the mail lady rings the bell because it means she has something big for me. Like last week.

Eden sent me a copy of her book! It is visually stunning, with lilting, magical words to match. Snappy, happy phrases make my children and me want to read this book again and again and again.
Plus the koala key chains, a deck of Aussie playing cards (would you be surprised if I told you Reed’s favorite games are War and SlapJack?), and an Aussie towel for Roger.
THIS is why I love blogging. I get free lessons on how to speak a foreign language!
And I get to know people like Mel and Eden and YOU.
‘Scuze me now while I hit the thunderbox.
See what my classmates are showing and telling over at The Town Crier’s Show & Tell. And show something yourself — EVERYONE is welcome.

very cool stuff!
Eden’s book is gorgeous! And I want that headline
HAHAHAHAHAHA
I had to scroll back up to read the tea towels definition of “thunderbox”. Some of those phrases *may* be a little over the top.
Your description of blogging is perfect. I can not wait to meet you next year, Loz.
XOXOXOX
How cool! That headline is perfect for Mel because she truly brings us together.
And, what a wonderful gift from Eden.
That’s a great headline – and it would perfectly describe Mel!
You won the mail sweepstakes today. What a great haul!

I love bloggy-mail surprises!
Awesome! Just Awesome!
I hope the book is available here in the states!
And now, I’m off to read that article!
I need to read that article, see what it says. Very very cool.
And Eden has a book? WOw!!!

What a wonderful gift from Eden and Salutes to Mel.
Great post. I blog for the community as well.
What a cool gift from Eden. And yes, I believe Mel deserves all the credit and love she can get!
Those are both very cool things. How fantastic.
That thing about Reed’s favorite games and one of them being WAR cracks me up. Me and my 2 best friends used to play 3 way WAR with about 5 decks of cards (one of which was chippendales)and we could play for days.
Alright Mate! Love the bloggy love and community etc. truly inspired by so many!
What a great article!! Well deserved for Mel. She rocks. Hard.
Fun gifts, too. Happy for you!
Amazing how when I started blogging here I wasn’t aware at all that there are other blogs out there like me.. I discovered one blog, and then another, and then Mel’s which opened me to a whole comunity! (and a great wonderful one at that).
And those Aussie gifts – how cool!
