Show & Tell: Better off red

November 18, 2009

in Denver, Show & Tell

The kids were both in school but Roger and I had Veteran’s Day off. So we had a date in our city.

After lunch (which included acai sangria), we strolled over three of Denver’s bridges toward downtown. On the way, we found this:

Photo by Jeffrey Beall (his is better than mine).

National Velvet is by artist John McEnroe (not the tennis player, I presume). The sculpture was dedicated a year ago today.

Denver does like its primary colors, doesn’t it?

I have sudden urge to prepare kidney beans for dinner.

See what my classmates are showing and telling over at Mel’s Show & Tell.

Hey! I talked about red today, too! Kinda. You’ll see. http://thecasualperfectionist.com/2009/11/confessions-of-a-casual-perfectionist-day-18/ (Red is the fastest color.)

That’s a lot of red.

Funny, it kind of puts me off kidney beans…

Hmm that is very…red and…we shall say interesting.

Acai Sangria? Hook me up!

That statue is odd to say the least. Municipal art is always interesting and ecclectic.

What an odd sculpture. Hey, I keep forgetting you live in Denver. I will be there at Christmas! What part do you live in?

Kids in school? A day off with your husband? Sounds like heaven…

I know that that time will come quickly enough, so I’m trying to enjoy Oscar at this age, but the thought of having a “date” like that…sigh.

That is a very strange looking sculpture. I’ve been staring at it for several minutes now, unable to pull my eyes away. Odd!

Hope you had a great day out with your hubby!

OMG…that thing gives the evil Bronco a run for its money in the WTF department. Maybe it looks better IRL?

I feel the need to go get a giant pooper scooper. Hmm, I guess you need to see the sculpture in person.

Wouldn’t it be cool if those were all water balloons and you were at a party with, say, a lot of 8-year old boys….or a few silly drunk adults! …it was the acai sangria!
