Perfect Moment Monday: Contact

Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

Once a week we engage in mindfulness about something that is right with our world. Everyone is welcome to join. Details on how to participate are at the bottom of this post, complete with bloggy bling.

Please visit the links of the participants at the bottom.
Here’s a perfect moment from my week. I hope you’ll share yours, too.

====================================
Reed’s first mother moved out of state three years ago, and has since gotten married and had two children. We hear from her sporadically, not often. Life is busy for her with a toddler and a newborn.

Still, it makes me sad to see Reed’s heart sink when he doesn’t get a response to his voicemail or email messages to her.

This weekend we got an email from her saying that she’d been visiting family in our area, but due to the flu (her son came down with it), she was unable to put us on her schedule.

She sent photos of her family, her 2 year old son and her 6 month old daughter — Reed’s half-siblings. He was so excited to see proof of his big-brothership!

I know I have no control over this, but my wish for 2010 would be for Reed to have more contact with his first parents.

Putting it out to the Universe. Thanks for this perfect moment for him, and, greedy mom that I am, I ask for more.

  1. My heart sinks reading about Reed’s disappointment.
Give him a big hug from your friends on Twitter.

  2. Not a greedy mom.. not by a long shot. A wonderul mom that loves her children more than words.. what a wonderful wish!!

  3. Here from Creme- First I’ll repost what I wrote: That I LOVE Star Trek, that your Open Adoption post was amazing and I love the way you wrote about it, esp for a Trekkie like me (in fact, we just had a surprise Groom’s Cake at my brother’s wedding in the shape of hte Starship Enterprise, pics if ya want them), and I 100% belive in opeon adoption as well.)

Having said that…Poor Reed…Why would his BM do that? 🙁

  4. Nothing is more difficult than seeing our children disappointing. I am happy that he got to see some pics.

  5. That’s gotta be super tough for Reed, especially given the contact you are all lucky enough to have with Crystal for Tessa. I hope 2010 is a good year for his bigbrothering!

  6. This touches my heart also for your son and I wish this for him and your family also for the New Year, plus Health and Happiness in Abundance too!

  7. I feel for Reed that he’s got those disappointments. It’s great she sent pics finally, but it’s gotta be tough on him, especially when he sees Tessa getting contact. I’ll hope for more for him too.

  8. I hope so too. It must be hard for him to understand why his sister gets to see her first parents & he doesn’t.

  9. Glad he finally got to see a photo of the new baby!

I hope the Open Door opens a little wider in 2010.

  10. There’s no harm in asking the universe for more happiness for Reed. He deserves all that and more.
