Perfect Moment Monday: Joie de vivre

Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

Once a week we engage in mindfulness about something that is right with our world. Everyone is welcome to join. Details on how to participate are at the bottom of this post, complete with bloggy bling.

Please visit the links of the participants at the bottom.

Here’s a perfect moment from my week. I hope you’ll share yours, too.

====================================

I drove Tessa and Reed over the Colorado mountains to pick up their Dad after his day of skiing, and for the four of us to continue on to the western part of the state to visit my sister and her family.

We headed into the mountains, leaving the metro area behind us. Twenty-five minutes into the drive, just past this shrine, Reed, wide-eyed with wonder, piped up from the back seat.

“Mom,” he said earnestly, “The world is so beautiful. I am so glad to be alive! Aren’t you?”
.
.
.
(let that sink in. it was glorious, being reminded of all the beauty around me, physically and spiritually.)
.
.
.
Oh, yes, Reed. Moments like these, seeing through your eyes, moving through life with you and your sister and your dad…yes I’m ecstatic to be alive.

(Five miles later I was back to “Quit fighting with each other — don’t make me stop this car!”)

We’ve got to take these moments when we get these moments.

  1. That sounds so much like Reed…and so much like a long car trip!

This must be what it means to be balanced (equal tranquility and then chaos!)

This weekend was filled with many Perfect Moments!

It was great to see you!

  2. That is such a true moment. One moment someone can say or think something so profound, then the next it is back to life as usual. Those moments are the Perfect Moments. Such a wonderful moment!

  3. Oh, that is just lovely! I have been (hormonal?) seeing the downside lately – the horrors that some human being go through and thinking that it would be more humane if humans never existed.

How nice to be reminded that there is great beauty too.

    Thanks, Reed!

  4. What a great moment. Isn’t it funny how parenthood is filled with such radical swings from blissful perfect moments to moments that make you want to pull your hair out.

  5. Thank you for giving me a perfect moment with the beautiful touching comment from Reed and then making me SMILE with the “Don’t make me stop this car”. ((HUGS))

  6. That’s beautiful- It’s nice to be able to step back and see the world through a child’s eyes.

  7. Being up in the mountains does definitely make me feel that way – good to see those feelings in a child!

  8. What a great kid! Obviously your mindfulness is having a positive impact on your kiddos. I think too many kids are overprogrammed and miss out on the simple beauty and joys of life.

  9. Hi.

Would it be okay if i put this Button on my german blog?
I would link you, of course..

Let me know if it’s okay.
