Wordless Wednesday: Whimsical or weird?

  1. I think there’s nothing more beautiful than pregnancy (maybe because I’ve never been able to experience it) and I have many fertility “goddess” statues in my home that, in essence, show the same thing.

But, that, I find disturbing…on so many levels.

  2. Eeew. I found it cute when someone made a pregnant balloon animal for a baby shower at work, but I’m not a fan of random torsos in general. Makes me think of a particularly bad day at work that one time…

  3. Daria just hit the nail on the head.

Forgive me for being blunt, but every time I had a miscarriage and I had to collect the tissue, I would always google what I’d be looking for because it was at various points in pregnancy each time.

    Guess what it looked like?

    Dead fetus at 10 weeks.

So um…yup, that’s it for me. No thanks, I won’t be sportin that key chain!

How about you Lori???? Waiting for you to chime in!

    🙂

  4. I’ve been trying to figure out what I think about this. In an odd, medically inquisitive way I can understand how this might have seemed like a good idea in the planning stages. However, I simply cannot figure out how the disturbing reality of this key chain–of all things–makes sense. Considering the butt-first presentation of the baby, I’d call this a breech of good taste.

I asked my 11 year old son what he thought about it. He pondered, wordless for a while, and then simply blurted out: “WHY did someone make that?” From the mouth of a babe comes the truth.
