Time Warp Tuesday: 9/11

It’s the split by which we measure all other events in our lives. Before 9/11 — or after? Everything seemed to change on that day. It caused a tear in our lives, our nation, our timeline.

We’re revisiting posts about 9/11 for Time Warp Tuesday, the monthly blog hop offered by Kathy at Bereaved and Blessed.

Kathy instructs us to find a post in our archives about 9/11.  “Then write a new post on your blog about why you chose the post that you did and what has happened in your life since.”

In 2011, 10 years after the horror, I wrote Nine Eleven, Ed McCaffrey, Stephen Covey and me.

I love that post. In writing it I got down to something raw;  I had insights about who I am at my core, what humanity is at its core. People responded from their cores, too.

Though life has continued to unfold in mostly happy ways here at Chez Luz, we have had no dramatic changes. I am still a dreamer.

Click over to Time Warp Tuesday to read more posts about 9/11, and maybe even add your own (eve if it’s no longer Tuesday).

And dream along with me. Please add your thoughts to this post about human nature and how a bunch of individuals can best function as a community.

  1. I wanted to do Time Warp this month, and so I looked back through my archives and discovered only one post about 9/11. Which doesn’t seem possible, but there you have it.

The weather here today feels like the weather did on that day. It transports you to stand in that weather again.

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever written about 9/11. It’s just very overwhelming. I was trying to explain it to my girl today, and it was difficult to convey the gravity of it all to someone who has no concept of it.

  3. It was a great post and I am so glad that you chose to revisit and reflect on it today as part of Time Warp Tuesday this month. There is a definite pre and post-9/11 split when I think about it and my life. I love Johns Lennon’s “Imagine” and even chose the nursery theme for Sean’s bedroom as a baby called “Imagine” inspired by and using drawings he did for his son Sean. I am still a dream too.

  4. Interestingly, I seem to have done Time Warp Tuesday without even planning it! Like you, I count myself a dreamer. I hope someday this world will find a way to live harmoniously amongst ourselves, race beside race, gender beside gender, nation beside nation. I doubt it’ll happen in our lifetime, but maybe our children or grandchildren will see a better world.

  5. It’s hard to imagine what it must have been like being so far (distance wise) from it all. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Watching the coverage on TV and seeing those towers fall over and over again.

Lives shattered and changed forever all over the globe.

  6. I love this idea of going back and revisiting a post from the past. I often find myself revisiting the same topics over and over and wondering if I’ve shared my view repeatedly or added new insight, so looking back would really help me see my own growth. Thank you for sharing!

  7. I still love that post, I remember.

and you’re still not the only one. ‘imagine’ is among the songs I sing to J before bed (she used to call it the ‘all the people’ song), along with ‘what a wonderful world’ by louis armstrong.
