Seven (And I Don’t Mean the Creepy Brad Pitt Movie)

Cards-7-HeartI’ve always loved seven, or, as Brad Pitt might type, se7en. It’s prime. It’s imbalanced, yet sturdy. It’s grounded but reaching. Other than zero, it’s the only digit that requires more than one syllable. Seven is special.

I feel the same affinity for the number 7 that I do for the letter L. I lo7e them both.

There are seven chakras, seven dwarfs, seven notes on the musical scale, seven colors of the rainbow, seven days of the week, seven wonders of the world, seven seas and seven continents. Some championships come from a best-of-seven series. There are seven sisters and seven samurai. I suppose there may even be some fun in the seven deadly sins if you have a measure of self-control.

In numerology,

Acute heptagram (blue)The 7 is the mystic and the philosopher, the number of creative, mental activity and spiritual evolution. The 7 relates to cycles of time and the movement of the sun and the planets as seen from Earth. Many vibrational things, such as chakras, colors, and musical notes, come in 7s. — Source.

Hmmmm….d’ya think that resonates for me?

Seven years ago, thanks to Melissa Ford and Daisy Orenstein, I gave birth to this blog. So, happy birthday to this space (on Mother’s Day, no less)! It’s had half-of-7 names, 137 x 7 posts,  1183 x 7 comments, and an estimated 90,000 x 7 words (seems like more. It has  brought me 70 x 7 new friends (at least) and the richness of getting to know readers like you.

Thank you, Friends, for joining me on this 7 year journey and celebrating my hepta milestone with me.

Wanna send me to seventh heaven? Tell me something about your favorite number. What do you like about it?

  1. How about 7th Heaven? Because that’s how you resonate when you speak of your blog. Happy sevenersary. Happy blogosevenry. Seven blogoversary.

  2. Happy seven, Lori! And happy Mother’s Day!

I like 42 because it’s the Answer. 🙂 Ooh, I just had a moment–my boss suggested we hike the AT in 2020 when I’ll be 42!

  3. Congratulations to you! My favorite number is 22. Always been lucky for me. But regarding numbers in general, I seem to always notice the same time of day: 12:34. I don’t know much about numerology, but I did Google that number sequence and I love what it says about my thoughts being progressive and headed in the right direction. Not sure if it’s true or not, but it’s fun to notice the patterns. Hope you’re enjoying this day 🙂

  4. Wow. Seven years. What an accomplishment. Very impressive. Seven is also my favorite number, because my birthday is 7-17. It’s a rad number and you are a really rad lady. I’m so thankful to know you. Thank you for seven years. Here’s to seven more!

  5. Ha — congratulations on your sevenness. May there be many many more years.

I don’t have a favourite number. But I will admit that there are times when making a decision that I will check the gematria (Numerical value? Sort of? In Hebrew) of two keywords in the decision and go with the one that feels like a better number. Though I didn’t check the gematria before I named the twins because I was set on those names and if they had added up to a terrible number, it would have affected the decision.

  6. Se7en!! That’s a lot of years blogging. Congratulations and here’s to 7+7+7 more.

My favorite number is 26 – my birthday, my husband’s birthday, our anniversary.

  7. Congratulations on 7 years! That’s an amazing amount of things to say, and you have said them all very well.

I kind of like 13 because it’s usually so maligned. Sometimes I like the underdog…

    I don’t like Thursdays, though. 🙂

  8. My teacher says that 12 is a very masculine number (stable, square with the 4 in it) and 13 is a very feminine number (mysterious). The maligning was part of the larger maligning over the centuries of the feminine, the mysterious.

    What’s up with Thursdays?

  9. My favorite number is four. It seems to play a role here and there in my life, but seven is a close second. Congratulations on your blogoversary. I know how hard it is to keep writing in the midst of life events. You are an inspiration to me. I hope to join you in about six and a half years. By then you’ll almost be fourteen. 🙂

  10. 7! Simply awesome! Congratulations. I’m not sure I have a favorite number. Every time someone asks I find myself re-mulling it over as if the number I chose the last time wasn’t quite awesome enough to even remember certainly. I think I would like a favorite though.

  11. Wow! You’ve passed the 7-year itch! Congrats on all your success these past 7 years. You’ve been an inspiration to so many, including me. So very lucky to call you my friend, friend. Love you!
