battle of the nas, beatles vs journey

Inquiring Minds Want to Know

Last week I planted two earworms, both with notoriously long endings. I challenged you to estimate which song had more Na Nas, and by a little or a lot.

Our Contestants

The Factors

In one corner, the Hey Jude outro times in at 3:50, a definite advantage . However, as Jess pointed out, much of that time is taken up not only by Na Nas, but also by Hey Judes.

There are 11 Nas in each of 18 repetitions.

In the other corner, the Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin outro times in at a mere 1:35. Yet it has 22 Nas in each of its 7 repetitions.

The Math

Hey Jude has 11 x 18 Nas for a total of 198.

Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin has 22 x 7 Nas for a total of 154.

Hey Jude wins by 44. Traci York got the right answer.

Now you can amaze your friends with this tidbit of knowledge. I know I will (#insufferable).

Hurray for lucky guesses! In addition to amazing my family and friends, I’ll be sure to remind them many times over that I was actually RIGHT about something for a change! #InsufferableSquared

Thanks for this bit of fun, Lori! 🙂

  2. Oh, how I love this. 🙂 I put “I get by with a little help from my friends” up on a slide today at our orientation program, and I think only a few of them got it … !
