Perfect Moment Monday: Lotsa Boca goodness

What is a winter-bound gal to do when Festivus is in the rear view mirror and spring is still weeks away?

If she’s lucky and the stars align, she heads to the fictional and hysterically stereotypical Del Boca Vista.

I got lucky and the stars aligned. Roger had some work to do in Boca Raton and my parents agreed to take care of our children for several days.

We had a series of perfect moments. From our greeting at the airport by this mojito bar (far too early in the day to partake, though):

…to hanging out with Roger’s parents, who took a break from the Boston winter and drove down to meet us:

Once I discovered, via Twitter, that Lindsay was also in Boca Raton, we arranged to meet for lunch and — what else? — mojitos. Here we are tweeting about our good fortune from both sides of the table.

Perhaps the most touching perfect moment took place on the beach with my mother-in-law. As you recall, Lisa is dealing with advanced lung cancer, so time with her is precious. While our husbands were talking sports over a beer at a bar , we two spread our towels over the sand, enjoyed the smells and sounds of the seashore, and talked about what heaven might be like and who might be there.

It was incredibly relaxing and de-stressing to be off-duty, child-wise. Reverting to our adventurous and carefree days did a world of good for Roger and me. And it was equally wonderful, though in a different way, to reunite with our kids and my parents upon our return. Clearly, I’m suffering from an overdose of perfection this week.

Pobrecita, I know.

The Limerick Chick contest closes Monday night — make sure to get your entry in. Voting begins soon so plan to check back next week.
