Perfect Moment Monday: Happy happy joy joy

Perfect Moment Monday is about noticing a perfect moment rather than creating one. Perfect moments can be momentous or ordinary or somewhere in between.

We gather once a week to engage in mindfulness about something that is right with our world. Everyone is welcome to join. Details on how to participate are at the bottom of this post, complete with bloggy bling.

Please visit the links of the participants at the bottom.

Here’s a perfect moment from my week. I hope you’ll share yours, too.

====================================
While sleeping in one morning this weekend, and before my husband brought me coffee in bed (pretty perfect already), I had a realization:

I am happy.

For most of my life I have had a severe case of the “I’ll-be-happy-whens.” When I graduate. When I meet my soul-mate. When we buy a house. When I get that next job. When we have children. When said children are out of diapers. When we get a new home that has more than one bathroom. When the children can cook their own dang chicken nuggets.

I have stopped doing that!

For now, anyway. Today, I love my life the way it IS. I am happy.

  1. This calls for my (perhaps all-time) favorite quote:

Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Coincidentally, yesterday I saw Emerson’s house!

  2. This was so sweet! Sometimes those perfect moments come at the most perfect times. My perfect moment of the day: hanging out with my in-laws after we had them over for dinner. They’re moving this week and it makes me realize just how perfect we had it with them nearby.

  5. Wow, I love that Emerson quote! And I love that you are happy. Grab the Happy with both hands, Loz. It’s a choice.

Question – is your post title from Ren and Stimpy?

It’s a wonderful moment when you realize you are happy … and of course you’ll have unhappy moments following this. But you have stopped putting off happiness and embraced it.

my perfect moment involved spending the weekend with baby J’s birth parents, and falling asleep gazing into my beautiful daughter’s precious face.

  19. Hmmm..makes me think of all the “I’ll be happy whens” that have been rolling through my head…when I get another degree and can make more money…when we build our “for good” house…when I get my smurfy blue walls painted…when we stop being sick every 3 weeks.

Time to stop the thought train.

  21. You failed to tell people how you spread the happy by bringing coffee to your sister AND helping her clean her house!

That made for TWO perfect moments. Or more.

I’d say that I’m happy that you are happy, but that just sounds too much like “Pleasing you pleases me.”

    Pass the sopapillas.
