Vaping Taping

I present to you this vaping video (not a how-to), my debut on the Tobacco Free CO YouTube channel.

Earlier this year I wrote two posts about teens and vaping (this one about my own teens and this one about my high school students), both sponsored by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment.

A few weeks later, CDPHE asked me to take part in a vaping video campaign.

Uh…THAT took me out of my comfort zone. I mean, writing is so solitary and unshowy — comfortable for an introvert. A video shoot was definitely anxiety-inducing for said introvert. But I was interested in a new experience and I wanted to continue my efforts to bust my fears.

It took about 2 hours to get the 2 minute segment.

(Ha, that’s in line with the productivity of my writing process.)

  1. Smiling while reading this because I’m so glad you did! May the war on vaping continue to favor those who educate and reveal the truth behind this latest form of nicotine consumption.

  2. You did great! I hate how insidious vaping is, and how apparently easy it is for kids to get this stuff and use it. I’ve seen kids in middle school struggle with this addiction and have it impact their lives so young… I love the teaching of appropriate coping mechanisms as a way to combat it. You were such a great spokesperson, awesome fear-facing!

  3. That was awesome to see you! And it’s such an important conversation. That’s me — I go for the totally shallow first (you look and sound awesome!) and then the yeah-yeah-yeah, the content is important, too 🙂

  4. Awesome! You’re so calm – all that yoga pays off, I guess. 😀

My kid (who has inherited a genetic predisposition (not from me) for clean, healthy living) likes to comment about how ridiculous it is that there’s a vape shop next to her intermediate school. On the plus side, kids pretty much don’t ever get to leave campus without parental supervision. On the minus side, most of them are passing by the shop EVERY DAY.

Fortunately, at the school she’ll be attending this coming year, the only thing around is a Mexican restaurant.

  5. That was great! I don’t know much about vaping, but I do know that people think it is safer than regular old school smoking.
